COMMUNITY BOATING CENTER HOSTS
SCHOONER AMISTAD IN PROVIDENCE
Community Boating Center (CBC) has announced that it will host the Freedom Schooner Amistad, September 8-11 at India Point Park in Providence.
Sponsored by The City of Providence, and run by AMISTAD America, Inc., the 81 re-creation of the famous vessel of the Amistad incident of 1839, will be open to the public from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday 9/10 and Sunday 9/11. Admission is free of charge, but AMISTAD America will be accepting donations to help the organization continue its educational mission.
John OFlaherty, Executive Director of CBC, commented We are honored for the opportunity to offer the Providence community access to this significant touchstone of American and maritime history.
AMISTAD America, Inc. is a national, non-profit educational organization. Its mission is to promote reconciliation and harmony among races through ownership and operation of the Connecticuts Flagship and Tall Ship Ambassador, Freedom Schooner Amistad.
Community Boating Center (CBC) is a non-profit, 501c3 recreational organization offering all members of the community an opportunity to sail. Located in India Point Park, CBC provides outreach, sailing lessons and affordable access to the Providence waterfront. Gifts of cash or property to CBC may be treated as charitable donations for Federal Tax purposes.
