CBC PURCHASES NEW FLEET AT PROVIDENCE BOAT SHOW

NEW Hunter 140s Join CBC Learn-to-Sail Fleet
Community Boating Center (CBC) has purchased a new fleet of sailboats for its growing inner-city outreach, youth sailing, and adult training programs made possible by grants from The Champlin Foundations, Citizens Bank, and individual donors.
CBC displayed one of six new 14 Hunter 140s in the Team One Newport Small Craft Sailing Center at the Providence Boat Show, 1/12-1/15, booth 742, on the upper deck of the RI Convention Ctr. The new fleet will allow CBC to further grow its popular learn-to-sail programs with a safe, stable, and fun design providing increased comfort in introducing new sailors to the sport. It features unsinkable construction, a wide non-tippy hull, and a user-friendly, simple layout.
The boats will also sail in CBCs Renaissance Regatta, a corporate benefit event featuring teams of CBC youth and adult sponsors working together in a series of fun challenges and races. The annual regatta is followed by a silent auction all in support of CBC youth outreach initiatives.
John OFlaherty, Executive Director of CBC commented, For the sailing industry, the buck starts here. Community programs are the gateway to sailing that facilitates future boat sales, equipment and apparel purchases, and yacht club and marina memberships. CBC is excited to continue in our role of introducing sailing to the people of the Ocean State.
Community Boating Center (CBC) is a non-profit, 501c3 recreational organization offering all members of the community an opportunity to sail. Located in India Point Park, CBC provides outreach, sailing lessons and affordable access to the Providence waterfront. Gifts of cash or property to CBC may be treated as charitable donations for Federal Tax purposes.
