Community Boating Center has established NEW powerboat training programs that allow the general public to experience safe, hands-on boating classes in upper Narragansett Bay.

Ready to leave and return to the dock under power with confidence? Turn book knowledge into sea experience with the help of our USCG licensed Captains. You’ll start with a primer on outboards, safety, weather, and navigation. You’ll then take the helm with hands-on docking and maneuvers applicable to all outboard powerboats.

• On-the-water, taught in 13’ Boston Whalers, Class limit 6
• Prerequisite: CBC Membership, RI Power boat certificate*
• Course goal: Intro to power boating/ docking confidence
• Course fee: $255

PWR-A2, 3/31 -- 4/03, Saturday, 10:00 AM -- 1:00 PM

Feel the need for speed? We’ll take the best of powerboat basics to the next level with on-the-water lessons in handling horsepower. Put your time in on the water, and you’ll be ready to step-up to handling a center console boat in varied wind, wave, and docking challenges.

• On-the-water, taught in 13’ Boston Whalers/ 18’ center console, Class limit 6
• Prerequisite: PowerPrimer* or Director Approval
• Course goal: Refined powerboating skills
• Course fee: $255
