COMMUNITY BOATING CENTER RECEIVES SAILZONE GRANT FUNDING

CBC SailZone Brings After-School Sailing to Providence Youth
Community Boating Center (CBC) has announced that it has been awarded funding for SailZone, a program supported by a partnership with the Providence After School Alliance (PASA), and the Education Partnership.
SailZone is an innovative program combining the engaging nature of hands-on sailing, basic science of sailing, and the dynamic fun of on-the-water sessions to provide middle school youth with high quality after-school programming. This after-school adventure links students with their connection to the environment, the academic science of sailing, and experiential learning opportunities.
John OFlaherty, Executive Director of CBC commented, Community Boating is excited to bring hands-on sailing to these deserving after-school youth.
The Providence After School Alliance was launched by Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline as a public-private venture to develop a citywide system to substantially increase high-quality, affordable out-of-school time enrichment opportunities for Providences children and youth.
Community Boating Center (CBC) is a non-profit, 501c3 recreational organization offering all members of the community an opportunity to sail. Located in India Point Park, CBC provides outreach, sailing lessons and affordable access to the Providence waterfront. Gifts of cash or property to CBC may be treated as charitable donations for Federal Tax purposes.
