CBC HOSTS WINE TASTING CHALLENGE 2/18/10, 7:30 - 9:00pm

Community Boating Center (CBC) will host a series of wine tasting/contests starting in 2010 with a California White varietal event on 2/18!

One of the best fine wine producing areas in the world is California. Ideal humidity, soil conditions and temperature provides the best environment for winemaking. California white wine lovers will contest to the fact that California wines are of the highest prestige. California white wines make up over 40 of the wine production in the state.
California is the largest source of American wine by far, producing 90 percent of all US grown wine. The state of California is home to over 700 wineries that produce fine white wine and superior red wine. Premier California white wines are recognized throughout the world. White wine varietals grown in California originated in other parts of the world, most notably France, Germany and Italy. Many fine white wine varietals grown and produced all over the state include: Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Viognier and a wide selection of Chardonnays. On the slightly sweeter side are Chenin Blanc, Riesling, Gewurtztraminer and some light Muscats.

Located in India Point Park, CBC provides outreach, sailing lessons and affordable access to the Providence waterfront. Gifts of cash or property to CBC may be treated as charitable donations for Federal Tax purposes.
