CBC Receives $3800 for New Daysailer Sails
Community Boating Center (CBC) has announced that it has been awarded a Young Athletes Award grant funded by Bank of America and supported by a partnership with the Providence Recreation Department, the Providence After School Alliance (PASA), the Education Partnership, and Good Sports, Inc.
The goal of this new sports award is to encourage and promote quality sports and recreation programs that serve Providence's middle and elementary-school aged youth.
John OFlaherty, Executive Director of CBC accepted the award from Mayor David Cicilline at a presentation at Providence City Hall on Thursday, December 14th. OFlaherty commented, Community Boating is honored to work with such committed and dedicated organizations in offering quality, engaging after-school programming to Providence.
The Providence After School Alliance was launched by Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline as a public-private venture to develop a citywide system to substantially increase high-quality, affordable out-of-school time enrichment opportunities for Providences children and youth.
Community Boating Center (CBC) is a non-profit, 501c3 recreational organization offering all members of the community an opportunity to sail. Located in India Point Park, CBC provides outreach, sailing lessons and affordable access to the Providence waterfront. Gifts of cash or property to CBC may be treated as charitable donations for Federal Tax purposes.
