Monday Mini-Courses
Advance your skills with FREE weekly scheduled intro or refresher seminars on
knots, rigging, nomenclature, and sailing theory. Continue with a review of
gear, rigging, and basic boat handling including tacking, gybing, starting,
stopping, docking, rules, and safety.

Tuesday Sailing Sampler
Enjoy your first (or next) sail from the safety and comfort of a keelboat. With
500 lbs. of lead under your hull, youll sit high and dry in our non-capsizable,
non-sinkable Hunter 216s. But dont let the stability fool you, this boat
has plenty of get-up and go.

Wednesday Racing Clinics
Friendly, fun, and fast racing is the best way to advance your speed skills.
We take pressure-to-perform out of the mix with an emphasis on fun. Hang around
for Wednesday Night Racing, a qualifying series to represent CBC members in
our annual Renaissance Regatta.

Thursday Challenge Tests
All members must pass an on the water evaluation of basic sailing skills in
order to participate in open sailing privileges. A check-out test is required
for each type of boat* you wish to sail. Members taking courses will be evaluated
in class

- Prerequisite: Proficiency (pre-screening evaluation given)

Everyday Aprés Sail
Why rush? De-rig, de-brief, and de-stress with your fellow students. Enjoy waterfront

2010 Adult Summer Classes
Our adult lesson format offers great opportunities for learning and growth with
a highly structured curriculum that allows stepped progression through a variety
of opportunities for beginner, racing or cruising minded sailors.
Our multiple sessions make it easy to create a custom, progressive learning
schedule, or mesh with your work/vacation plans. Adult lessons are offered
in pre-season, and five (5) summer sessions throughout the sailing season.
Most classes are offered on Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs. Build your lesson plan
today enjoy it for a lifetime.

Beginner Sailing I
Enjoy an Ocean State sailing adventure right in your own backyard! Have
fun, learn a lifetime skill, and meet new people. If you enjoy the outdoors,
wind in your face, and the sound of moving water, this class is your link to
the sailing world. Learn safety, rigging, sail trim, and steering. Once confident
in sailing basics, youre ready to advance to Beginner II.

- Prerequisite: CBC membership, enthusiasm
- Course goal: CBC Green rating
for open sailing

Beginner Sailing II
Progress to more refined sailing skills. The underlying approach in all classes
is to ensure that students enjoy both the challenge and fun of sailing and to
instill the principals of sailing safety, confidence, and self-reliance. Well
reinforce the basics learned in Beginner I, and master the skills of upwind
sailing, boathandling, and heavy-air techniques.

Basic Keelboat NEW
Before you enjoy the satisfaction of steering a boat out of the harbor by yourself,
you need a foundation of basic navigation, weather, anchoring, and cruise planning.
Graduates may qualify for keelboat privileges allowing use of our NEW Hunter
216's during open sailing.

- Prerequisite: Beginner II or Director approval
- Course goal: Intro to keelboat sailing*
- Course fee: $275 (meets 2 days/ wk. for 3 wks.)

Fast Track Weekend Beginner Class
This one-day accelerated class is a more intense version of Beginner Sailing
I, introducing new sailors with limited time to the skills required for independent
day sailing. This full day session is your passport to hit the water fast.
- On-the-water, taught in NEW Hunter 140s!, Class limit 6
- Prerequisite: CBC membership, busy schedule
- Course goal: Fast Track to CBC Green

- Course fee: $290 (meets 1 full day with max. personal attention)
